The Amazon Alexa enabled range of voice recognition products are pretty amazing when it comes to controlling your smart home devices hands-free but things have just got even better with the ability to lock the front door using the power of your voice alone.
August Home have announced that their flagship product the August Smart Lock will now support Alexa meaning that users of Alexa enabled products such as the Amazon Echo can finally make sure the doors are locked simply by checking in with Alexa.
The ability to pair with one of the leaders in smart home locking systems is major step forward for the capabilities of Amazon’s voice-controlled devices and adds to the already growing repertoire of skills attributable to Alexa within the smart home environment.
If you’re concerned about the potential for intruders to exploit the system to gain entry to the house, don’t worry – the system can only be used to lock the door.
This partnership represents another positive move by Amazon as they expand into the interconnected home market and we’re excited to see what they (and Alexa) have up their sleeves next.Learn more about Amazon Alexa devices here
