Let’s be honest, vacuuming the house is one of those chores that not many of us enjoy.
Luckily, a recent trend towards intelligent automated home cleaning assistants is looking to take this task off of the daily to-do list.
At the front of the pack is the Neato Botvac Connected Robot Vacuum, a smart cleaner which can help take the strain out of the routine clean.
Whilst some of the other models in the robot vacuum world opt for a rounded design, the Botvac breaks the mold, choosing a distinctive D-Shape form instead, allowing it to reach those pesky corners kept out of the reach of lesser-bots.
Featuring what Neato refers to as ‘LaserSmart’ mapping, the Botvac Connected uses a laser guidance system to navigate every inch of your home environment ensuring no spot remains uncleaned.
Effectively carrying out a first sweep of the cleaning space and scouting out the environment, the device then returns to commence cleaning all of the areas between those it’s mapped out.
This feature is somewhat different to the ‘bump and see’ approach of some other robot vacuum cleaners and by pre-mapping the most efficient path, Neato claim that the Botvac can get the job done up to four times quicker than its rivals.
The ability to connect the Botvac to a WiFi connection means that you can either pre-set a cleaning program for the device or take control of the unit and operate it remotely yourself.
Connecting the Botvac to your home WiFi allows you to schedule and control the device but also enables you to receive notifications when cleaning’s done so you don’t need to worry about whether your robot-helper is slacking on the job.
The two main settings on the Neato Botvac are known as Eco and Turbo with the former providing a longer cleaning program that uses less energy, while the latter offers maximum cleaning power and gets the task done in less time.
In terms of cleaning specs, the Botvac packs a combination of vacuum suction and brushes which look to maximize the pickup of anything hiding on your floors while a bagless dirt bin holds around 0.7 liters of dust and dirt before it needs emptying.
One of the coolest features of robot vacuum cleaners is the ability to return to the charging dock when power is running low and in this instance, the Botvac is no exception, returning to work as soon as it’s finished recharging.
The Botvac is equipped with a Lithium-Ion battery which provides around 120 minutes of juice when the device is running in Eco mode and up to 90 minutes of power when operating in Turbo.
