Using a combination of light therapy, exercise advice and sleep-monitoring and tracking, the SleepCompanion is looking to address some of the underlying causes of disrupted sleep.
At the center of the solution, the SleepCompanion uses a smart lightbulb (designed to replace your existing bulb) to reproduce the effect of various levels of natural light suited to the specific time of day.
The main idea here is to allow the body to react in a more natural way to simulated daylight levels – better for falling asleep and better for gently waking up.
While the smart bulb works its magic helping to regulate your body’s melatonin levels, the companion app is busy tracking the quality of your sleep.
This partnered monitoring system allows you to analyze a breakdown of your sleep-cycles, while also measuring light and sound disturbances that could be having an adverse effect on your valuable shut-eye.
A work of slumber-assisting art in its own right, the app also keeps a track of how your sleep patterns are progressing over the longer-term, providing advice on when and how to get back on track for the most regenerative sleep.
The app itself also looks to help you wind down before bed from a selection of mind and breathing focused exercises to help you relax.

Compatibility with devices such as the Netatmo Weather Station and the Nest Thermostat as well as smart activity trackers mean that factors such as temperature, environmental conditions, and activity levels can all be pulled on to build up a profile of elements affecting your sleep.
